A recent study has shown some interesting facts around people that try fad diets and the effects this can have on their body.

It is undeniable that we will do anything to lose weight. From following extreme celebrity diets such as the Alternate-Day Diet and the cabbage diet, to literally starving ourselves of food, we will do anything. However to experience credible, safe weight loss that lasts, the truest way to lose weight is to follow a sensible eating and exercise plan.

Research by the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSA) has found that our unhealthy attitude to why lose weight can trigger eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and orthorexia (where suffers become obsessed with only eating good foods).

How does the Alternate-Day Diet (ADD) Work?

Under this weight loss plan, you alternate between days where you eat what you want one day (without intentionally overeating) to the next limiting your calorie intake to just 500 calories.

Slimmer’s are advised to follow this extreme diet for 2 weeks – although 3 sessions of this alternating can be enough – in order to turn on the gene SIRT1 which is designed to reduce the amount of fat your body stores. After these 2 weeks, you can increase your 500 calorie a day intake to 50% of your recommended daily calorie intake (1,200 calories).

Now although this type of diet will promote fast weight loss if you are conscious of your calorie consumption on your ‘up’ days; the ADD is not a safe long term solution and can in fact cause overeating if you are not able to maintain these eating habits.

And this unfortunately is the same of all dietary fads.

Despite their best intentions to help your lose weight fast, the limited longevity and nutrient deprivation that they encourage can ultimately worsen the effects of obesity when they end.

Why? Because after such restricted periods of limited calorie consumption, once your body is free of it, it will seek to supplement your food cravings, triggering overeating and eventual weight gain.

How to experience safe weight loss?

It may seem like the longest route to your why lose weight ambitions, but modifying your eating habits steadily and increasing your exercise levels can ensure that your body has the time to adapt to these dietary changes and perceive them as the norm.

So take your time, and plan your diet carefully. Fad diets may feel like a fast weight loss solution, but all they will do is promote increased weight gain in the future.

Stop trying fad diets and choose a diet that works for you and doesn't have any nasty side effects. Understanding how weight loss works and the benefits of a safe diet are

We all want to look our best, and unfortunately we usually aren’t happy with the way we look. That is why whenever a new diet that has had any substantial proven results, it becomes the next biggest diet. Everyone wants to try it and some achieve weight loss and some don’t. People spend billions of dollars worldwide on books and programs that promote this new diet. That is, until the next one comes along to take its place.

This vicious cycle has been around for decades but it has increased rapidly in the last five years. No matter how many different diets are invented, there are still those desperate people who can’t lose weight. Why? Well, most of the diets that become fad diets are radical, impractical, and some are dangerous to your health. A restriction from any type of natural food is not good for the body. Remember that wonderful little pyramid that taught you how to eat in grade school? Well, do you remember any of those sections having a big X over it? No.

If you really want to lose weight, first you need to think “why lose weight?” What is your motivation? Do you need to lower your cholesterol? Are you looking to get fit and look good? Do you want to prevent heart disease or diabetes when you get older? All of these will result from a balanced, nutritional diet, but not from any fad diet. Don’t you wonder why they are only fads? How does weight loss happen with these diets? Well, the blunt answer to that is short term. No one can stick with a crazy diet. So they lose a little weight, break down and revert back to their original diet and put that weight back on. They invest in the next fad diet, see some results again but fail once more to keep it off. This yo-yo dieting is dangerous to that persons health.

So, how does weight loss happen for good? Well, the best thing to do is take a sensible, healthy step to change your lifestyle to the better. Practice this new step until it becomes a force of habit and then move on to the next. Allow yourself some treats but stay strong. Baby steps are the easiest steps to take! Don’t set yourself up for failure with these fad diets.

Can curing sleep apnea really help you lose weight. Read Why Lose Weights report and medical research to see the effects that sleeping disorders can have on your weight.

Research by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden has concluded losing weight can eliminate sleep apnea and improve your overall health.

Commonly known as ‘obstructive sleep apnea’ (OSA), this disorder causes you to stop breathing for 10 seconds whilst you are asleep.

Causing a collapse in your upper airways, moderate to severe cases of OSA (which are defined as 15+ breathing pausing per hour) can result in vehicular collapses, heart disease and if left untreated premature death.

What causes sleep apnea?

One of the leading contributors to this condition is obesity. Providing unnecessary pressure on your lungs, this excess weight can cause your airways to collapse more regularly than if you are slim.

However, if the Karolinska study is to be taken seriously, you too can easily reduce the harmful effects of this condition by simply losing weight.

During their study of 63 obese men aged between 30 and 65 (all of whom had got OSA only moderately); researchers found that those placed on an intensive weight loss programme for 9 weeks managed to halve the number of apnea events they experienced.

Losing 19 kilos on average, none of these participants exhibited signs of severe sleep apnea; 50% had only mild apnea and 1 in 6 were declared completely healthy.

In fact those with the most severe cases of sleep apnea experienced the best results from this weight loss, improving their overall health substantially.

How can this help you?

Even if you do not suffer from sleep apnea, quick weight loss can have a huge impact on your body, health and well being. Helping to reduce the risks of heart disease, strokes and cancer, by making the decision to why lose weight you can avoid developing conditions such as the one listed above and ensure you live a healthy, happy future.

If you are looking for quick weight loss and are unsure if it is achievable? The answer is yes, quick weight loss is achievable with the right advice and knowledge.

With so many people being overweight in our society today, it seems that almost everyone is trying their best to lose weight. As a result, there is a lucrative market for services and products which promise quick weight loss. Approximately 70% of Americans who diet look to self-help products and services to lose weight. Some products may include books, CD’s, food products, diet drinks, pills, and creams just to name a few. By the end of this year Americans will spend between $33 and $55 billion each year on natural weight loss products. This leaves many people with one burning question in mind… Is quick weight loss achievable?

The answer to this question is “yes”. You can lose weight quickly, effectively and naturally. There are many different ways to lose weight that are both safe and effective with long lasting results. The first is with weight loss medications. For those who are interested in taking this route, a variety of natural weight loss pills are available to you in two main categories. One category is the prescription weight loss medication also known as appetite suppressants. Appetite suppressants are usually prescribed by doctors and work by manipulating the hormones which control mood and appetite. Over the counter or OTC drugs are weight loss pills available without a prescription. This group of pills is commonly known as dietary supplements. Dietary supplements work by helping you to feel full. A good example of a dietary supplement would be a fat binder. Fat binders work when the fiber molecules in diet pills combine with the fat molecules you ingest with your food. Once the harmful fat molecules and the fiber are combined they become too big for your body to digest and are then discarded as waste.

The second way to achieve quick weight loss is with good old fashioned hard work through diet and exercise. It is always very important to not only monitor what you eat but how much you eat as well. Everything you eat should be in moderation. When you decide to diet you should not skip meals or eat from just one food group and avoid the rest like some fad diets suggest. This is dangerous because your body requires a specific amount of vitamins and minerals. Skipping meals or eating from just one food group may help you lose weight but will eventually cause health problems and nutritional deficiencies.

One of the best ways to achieve quick weight loss is to exercise a little each day by performing 10 minute work out routines. It’s been reported that women who exercised for just 10 minutes a day lost approximately 30% more body fat than those who exercised for 35 minutes 3 times a week. That’s right! Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh conducted a study and found that multiple short workouts can be just as effective as longer less frequent workouts in men. They found that men who did two 15 minute workouts 4 days per week improved their cardiovascular endurance twice as much as men who worked one 30 minute workout routine 4 days per week.

So remember that quick weight loss and fitness is possible. It really doesn’t take much to lose weight and feel great. The key to quick weight loss is to be persistent. Consult with your doctor, find a diet and exercise routine that’s right for you, and don’t give up.

What is the easiest way to lose weight and is it achievable. There are many ways to lose weight but what is the best way for you.

Losing weight has never been easy and you are probably going to need an additional easy method along the way. Now days, a number of organizations are moving their information and researches to discover more effective and easy ways to reduce body weight and fats. Diet pills, as means of losing weight fast and easy, have become quite popular these days.

When people refer to “diet pills“, these can be of two different types:

1-Natural weight loss supplements or pills: These pills are sold over the counter (OTC) and are as near as your local drugstore, where you’ll find an aisle offering everything from pills to teas that promise weight loss. They are usually safe and a few of them are also backed by solid scientific evidence and clinical trials.

2-Weight loss medications: These pills are available only by prescription from a physician and, although have been proven to be effective for weight loss, they have also been shown to have potential dangerous side effects. Therefore, they are only prescribed when obesity becomes life threatening.

Natural diet pills are very easy and effective way for people who wish to loose weight within a short span of time. Some of these diet pills also help you to attain a control over your body and act as appetite suppressants enabling you to control your hunger. They also help your body to cut down the intake of fat in the body while also providing you with surplus energy in order to do other activities of your day. By such ways, you can lose weight without doing much effort.

Quite a few good diet pills are backed by some very plausible evidence, and do contain ingredients that have been shown to have effects on weight loss. As they are 100% natural and pure, they are virtually free of all related side effects and interactions.

Such diet pills are not only the easiest way to lose weight; they also make your life easier, simpler and more enjoyable. Just imagine, for a second…

No more spending hours in the kitchen cooking meals for the week. No more getting up early to prepare your breakfast and pack lunch. No more using your brain so much to calculate just how much you need and no more waiting for equipment at the gym.

Remember, since the weight loss diet pills are designed to work with the body in eliminating fat, they cannot do wonders on their own. There is no positive result if you are taking the weight loss pill while living a sedentary life and feasting numerous times a day. A weight loss diet pill works best when a healthy lifestyle is added to the mix. A healthy lifestyle includes healthy eating, and an exercise program. The combination of the two, as well as a prescribed pill, can bring about much needed weight loss.

Recent research from the BBC regarding statistics of the number of people that develop diabetes has developed new levels of concern.

I was just reading a recent news release from the BBC news regarding statistics on numbers of people in the UK that will develop diabetes. Combine this with the 2 full days I recently had in a diabetes management seminar, where we were told that almost half of the room will develop diabetes and it got me thinking. Metabolic syndrome described the parameters used to diagnose the syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is increasing as obesity rates rise. As it continues to increase, the amount of people with type 2 diabetes increases as well.

The BBC referred to the “pre-diabetes time bomb” as a warning. Apart from a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, being overweight or obese goes hand in hand with the disease. Considering that almost 3 million people in the UK already have the disease and 7 million are on the brink, it is starting to sound like an epidemic. The facts also tell us that long term complications such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness and amputation can occur in many diabetics and the risks of these complications increase over time from diagnosis. In fact, the risk of a person with pre-diabetes developing coronary artery disease is almost equal to the risk faced by a diagnosed diabetic.

It all sounds rather doom and gloom, but there is a ray of hope for all of us. Type 2 diabetes is generally related to lifestyle and weight. Thus, if we can change the way we live, we can reverse or prevent the disease in the first place. Risk of moving from pre-diabetes to an actual diagnosis is reduced by 60% through implementing healthy diet choices and exercise. Simple changes such as reducing your breakfast from 2 slices of bread to just one slice can reduce your weight by 12 pounds over the course of one year. Adding 20 minutes of walking per day, for 5 days of the week can also go a long way to preventing diabetes and reducing overall weight as well.

According to a diabetes spokesperson for the Royal College of GP’s, we have to keep in mind that small weight gains can create large risks later on. On the flip side, small changes can go a long way to keeping us healthy. Losing weight does make us feel better, and we all want to look good. However, despite the urge to fit into a smaller dress size, I think that we should also be aware of the good that we are doing for our entire body by losing some weight. High blood pressure or high blood sugar levels are not something we can generally see or feel. Healthy amounts of weight loss are not only easily measureable, but also something we can see. Let’s keep losing a few pounds and keep ourselves healthy, not only for us, but also for our families.

Are you too stressed to diet? Learn how stress can affect your diet and what you can do to combat stress and improve your ability to lose weight. Learn how to lose weight and combat stress.

“So, how was work? Did you have a good day today?” What does this have to do with losing weight you may ask? Well, you should know that a high level of stress will eventually have a negative effect on your general health. People who have high levels of stress in their lives end up losing a lot of much needed sleep. Not only that but they are more prone to being sick and develop more long term diseases.

I read in a recent article of a popular women’s magazine that 85% of women can’t sleep at night due to worrying. Also, about 70% of women become irritable due to stress and because of the economy about 52% of women are under more stress today than they were six months ago. Unfortunately, quite a few of us tend to overeat and gain a few unwanted pounds during stressful times. This is the last thing we all need, especially when we are trying to lose weight.

I know that whenever I am stressed I try my best to schedule time to wind down from a hard day at work. In my spare time there are lots of things to do help cope with the stress. Here are a few good ideas to help you ease the stress of everyday life so that you could stay focused on keeping in good shape.

Tune up. Listening to music is a great way to relax. At times my job can be stressful. I can’t always take a break and walk away whenever I want to so I can always turn on the radio to my favorite station. If I want to listen to my music in private I just take out my MP3 player and listen as long as I want.

It’s your call. Sometimes during the middle of the day I call up a friend or a family member just to say hello. It only takes a few minutes and I make sure that I time myself for about 15 minutes which is just enough time to get my mind off of the pressures at work for a few minutes.

Sweat it out. By exercising for at least 30 minutes each day you can cut your level of stress anywhere from 40 to 50%. Remember, you don’t have to be a member of a gym. You could do what I do and go for a quick, brisk walk at the job. If possible, take a walk outside or around the block if time allows. If not, then take a quick walk around the office. Just make sure your work is getting done first.

You can try any of these ideas today. You may not be able to eliminate stress completely but it’s important to keep your stress level to a minimum. Good health is just as important as losing weight and both will help you to live a long and prosperous life.

Do you struggle to lose weight and not know why. Well may be we can help at Why Lose Weight.

Five common reasons of failure in your weight loss efforts

You have been struggling to lose weight for months now. You’ve tried each diet plan and you have struggled with every recommended strenuous exercise. You have been even keeping a close eye on your daily calorie consumption and expenditure and yet… it seems like nothing will ever work for you.

You mind is now being bombarded with several unanswered questions like:

Why can’t I lose weight?

How to lose weight after trying so many methods and ways for the same?

Why diet won’t work for me?

Well, take it easy. It’s natural to have questions like those especially when you are putting so much of time, efforts and money to “gain” this “loss”.

The good thing, about the whole problem, is at least you admit it. And remember, “Knowledge” is the key and the first step towards success in your losing weight successfully and permanently.

Therefore, before anything else, what you need to do is “know what’s causing you this failure.”

Surveys, experiences and studies have shown that following are the most common reasons involved in causing a typical weight loss failure regardless of age, race and gender:
1- Failure to set SMART objectives
Your weight goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. It means that you need to be your own boss in whatever you do. You need to set the target according to your needs and lifestyle without comparing yourself to anyone else. A simple way to approximate your ideal fitness is by referring to a Body Mass Index chart. Be realistic and do not aim too high in the beginning. Similarly, set a deadline to keep yourself enthusiastic and focused.

2- Inconsistent eating
Eating haphazardly can ruin even your best weight-loss objectives. Your body responds best to a scheduled eating program. Eating a small balanced meal every three hours works best for keeping the metabolism up and warding off sugar and carb cravings. You should, therefore, try to eat the same way on weekdays and weekends. In addition, if you want consistent improvement in your fitness level, never skip a breakfast as eating a typical breakfast (cereal and fruit) increases your metabolism and help you burn more calories during the whole day. For the rest of the day, limit your daily food consumption to frequent small meals instead of a fewer large meals.

3-Consistent exercising
How to lose weight significantly and for long term actually has a lot to do with your physical activity as well. Performing same work outs every day and for the same time with similar intervals will not help you lose weight. Instead, if you perform different exercises every week, it will surely keep your soul & body from turning off and adapting to the movements. Changing your workouts from week to week means pairing up different muscle groups with each other, using different exercises and performing weightlifting exercises in different orders.

4-Lack of self-control
The reason why diet (even the most recommended one) often doesn’t work for you is that you simply give in to temptation. Therefore, even you are on the best weight loss meal plan, your habitual “nibbling” here and there actually disturbs your whole routine and causes a great imbalance between your daily calorie consumption and expenditure. Therefore, watch out for those “extra” irregular munches and sips and be honest with yourself.

5- Lack of proper monitoring
Even if you adopt all the “corrective and preventive” measures to lose weight, if you are not actually monitoring and noting the changes, you will not know how much you’ve made it so far. Strict monitoring through various means such as keeping a food diary, exercise chart and noting down even the smallest gains will keep you well-aware of even the minute changes and you will then be able to deal with this change promptly. Likewise, it will also empower you to control your own calorie consumption and you will have a command over how much calories you need to burn daily.
Therefore, if you strictly avoid the above-mentioned common mistake, the issue of how to lose weight should not remain unresolved now. Once you know what works and what doesn’t and then apply this knowledge properly, you too, can easily achieve success.

We are told that you are what you eat but how true is that comment and how does diet cause weight loss?

You’re what you eat

If you are searching for an answer to why diet can cause drastic reduction in your weight, you’ve come to the right place. In fact, why lose weight through other “artificial” means when you achieve your fitness goals by “natural” means. There are different kinds of weight loss diet that help you lose weight in different ways. Let’s find out how:

Protein-rich Diet

It is commonly known that a popular weight loss diet is a high protein meal plan. Numerous dieters have been buying and using high-protein diets all across America and Europe, over the past several years. Protein is an essential component in the development of muscles, and it should be noted that your body has to metabolize calories quicker in order to actively sustain muscles. Therefore, the greater the percentage of your body which is pure muscle, the quicker you will burn that fat off and the harder it is to retain fat.

Best sources of proteins include thin, lean meats (preferably white meat e.g. chicken breast, turkey, fish (Tuna), egg white, skimmed milk etc.)

It’s important to remember that you don’t have to starve yourself to lower your calorie consumption. As mentioned above, just take smaller portions of the foods you currently enjoy.

Fiber rich diet

Just like water, fiber rich foods fill you up for longer. Also, as fiber is indigestible, it is discarded along the way and takes fats from other foods with it. According to a study, an average person could lose up to 10 pounds in one year just by doubling his / her fiber intake.

Fiber is commonly found in plant foods e.g. strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, broccoli, beans, and nuts. You can also start with high fiber wheat-based breakfast and should also make sure you have baked potatoes and brown rice as part of your diet.

Calcium-rich diet

Data from credible resources has signified the prominent effect of calcium on weight loss. According to the American Dairy Association, those people who have the lowest amounts of calcium have higher amounts of stored fat. For the same reason, overweight or obese individuals who are interested in working toward better health should consider increased calcium intake along with an overall healthier lifestyle.

Foods that are high in calcium include low fat dairy products e.g. skimmed milk, soy milk, low-fat cheese, yogurt and baked beans, dried figs, broccoli, darkest green leafy vegetables and calcium-fortified food like cereals and orange juice. If your diet is not high in calcium, some good calcium supplements e.g. chewable calcium tablets should be considered. Another best source of calcium is coral calcium obtained from fossilized coral reefs above sea level.

Frequent, smaller meal diet

Another way to cut back on calories is to watch your portion sizes. Go for relatively smaller, leaner, pieces of meats, perhaps. Eat as much vegetables as possible as they are low in calories but contain higher quantities of vitamins and nutrients) and avoid deep fried food (cheese burgers, fried chicken, French fries etc.). Doing these easy things will have a dynamic impact on your weight.

Water, water & water

Water is a natural appetite suppressant as it keeps your stomach full and prevents you from dehydration which can lead to false cravings / hunger. Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out the waste. When you don’t drink enough water, the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.

Natural dietary supplement

Natural dietary supplement like Proactol is an option that offers an extra bonus to get into the diet and fitness routine. Specific herbs and organic, fiber-based extracts present in Proactol have the ability to speed up your metabolism, curb appetite, increase fat burning and boost energy.

Last but not least, the above mentioned diet types should give you an idea of why diet is so important if you want to lose weight. Your diet plan should be an example of a balanced diet, essentially representing the major food groups of whole grains, vegetables, fruits and legumes. It should also include dairy want to lose, fish, meat and poultry. It is best if you avoid deep-fried foods (fast foods) and reduce the sugar and fat intake.

Fat burners are a great way to lose weight and monitor how much weight loss.

Can’t lose weight why? There are a number of fat binders that function as effective weight loss supplements. Why Lose Weight knows that you are confused with all those lose weight solutions out there. Added to this is the fact as to whether they can be safely used or not, and if yes, how much should you trust the brands.

Fat Burners

These are effective ways to work on the extra pounds you have gained and they help you determine how much weight loss is required. A fat binder is the solution to help fight weight gain and makes a difference. Some well known names in the fat burner’s category include guarana, citrus aurantium, 7-Keto and yerba mate, among others. Often people will convince you to use prescription drugs for tackling problems like why can’t I lose weight? However, Why Lose Weight will suggest you to go for natural formulas as they help you to stay healthier, often helping you gain long-term results.

Burn Fat the Safe Way

Are you thinking of questions like why diet and why weight loss? You can lose weight by burning fat through a safe process. Most fat burners function on the principle of thermogenesis, which refers to the breakdown of body fat. A good fat burner does 3 things:

Weight Training or Sprinting

Weight training, also known as sprinting, is an intensified exercise that ensures how much weight loss is required by the body. Weight training is a work performed by carbohydrates. Here, a high amount of calories is burnt. Also remember, sprinting is performed for a short while on account of muscle fatigue. In sprinting, aerobics are repeatedly performed for a whole session which results in a higher amount of total calories burnt. However, before asking questions like ‘why can’t I lose weight?’ remember to put in a brief interval between each workout session.

It burns your stored fats for energy

It breaks down and mobilizes your fat cells

It speeds your metabolism burn the stored fat and prevents the fat cells from enlarging

You must know that fat burning and fat loss are different processes. Fat loss is the most important aspect of weight loss, and normally refers to the water weight of the body and muscle loss. Ephedrine was a compulsory component in most weight loss fat burners previously. However, fortunately enough, this is no longer a reality. Ephedrine contains addictive properties and may lead to side effects such as:

Dry mouth

Nervousness (anxiety)

Headaches

Abnormal heartbeat

Seizures

Glucose, fat and protein are the 3 important aspects to help you reduce weight. You may starve yourself, but the body will not work unless it breaks down its tissue for fuel. Stored carbohydrate known as glycogen is used up quickly, after which it is the turn of the fat stored under the skin and around the internal organs. The protein present in the muscles is then broken down to create glucose which helps in proper functioning of the brain and retains consciousness.

Muscles act as active fat burners. Weight training is recommended as a fat burning method as according to certain experts, extra muscle helps burn more energy. So if you develop more muscle and have a high muscle – fat ratio, you must burn extra energy and more stored fat as a result.
